In September 2011, I had posted about my extended vacation from Google. Now, I am announcing my resignation from Google!

After working with some of the smartest people in the industry for more than five years — Friday, May 4th is my last day at Google. But I will continue to be a Google fan for life.

As I write this, two phrases come to my mind — first one is “to every ending there is a new beginning” — and second is “never waste a crisis, particularly if you have brought it upon yourself” :) Need I say more about my mixed emotions?

Scrappy Ventures Private Limited

So I enthusiastically announce that I have started a company, Scrappy Ventures in Pune, India. Scrappy most closely resonates with the Hindi word Jugaad जुगाड़ — often described as frugal innovation. At Scrappy, we will focus on building businesses that use the Internet as a store-front, backed by a strong engineering, sales and operations team. Watch out for some of our products in the next 4 months. By the way, we are hiring for several roles.

For now, I’ll leave you with the following opening lyrics from Eye of the Tiger by Survivor — which aptly describe my current state of mind:

Risin’ up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance
Now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

You are one of the best managers I ever had! As I said you’ll be sorely missed at Google :(
